MCFC unveils partnership with Etihad
Manchester City Football Club (MCFC) has signed a new multi-million pound partnership agreement with Etihad Airways, which will include naming rights to the club's stadium.
The 10-year deal will see the City of Manchester Stadium called the Etihad Stadium, which will form the centrepiece of a newly-named Etihad Campus in Manchester's Sportcity site. In addition to media and business co-operation, MCFC and Etihad will also work on joint community schemes in east Manchester - such as the delivery of youth football initiatives.
The Premier League club has also confirmed plans to consult on the proposed development of a new youth training and football development facility in east Manchester. MCFC chief executive officer Garry Cook said: "Most importantly, in addition to delivering significant revenue at a key stage in the club's evolution, the agreement creates exciting opportunities for our two organisations to cooperate more deeply commercially."
Sport England property director Charles Johnston added: "The re-negotiated stadium agreement will generate further investment in community sport and sports facilities in the local area."
