Liverpool FC upbeat despite £20m loss
Liverpool Football Club (LFC) is facing a "bright future" despite recording a loss of £20m for the year ending July 2010, according to managing director Ian Ayre.
The Premier League club's latest accounts cover the period between August 2009-July 2010, during which time it was under the ownership of Tom Hicks and George Gillett. However, LFC has since been acquired by Fenway Sports Group and has seen £200m worth of acquisition debt from the previous owners paid off, reducing interest payments.
Ayre said: "The club is now in an excellent position to move forward and all of us can approach the future with optimism." Image: shutterstock.com/naipung
