Knut Hamsun museum to open in August
A new museum in Hamaroy, Norway, is due to open on 4 August 2009 to coincide with the 150th birthday of the Nobel Prize winning author Knut Hamsun.
The 24,445sq ft (2,271sq m) Knut Hamsun Center is designed by Steven Holl Architects, on behalf of Nordland Fylkeskommune county council to commemorate the writer Knut Hamsun. Located above the Arctic Circle, the attraction is to feature exhibition areas, a library and reading room, a café and a 230-seat auditorium. Other project partners include associate architects LY Arkitekter AS; structural engineers Rambøll Norge, and landscape architect Landskapsfabikken.
