Helmsley recreation revamp
Helmsley Sport and Social Club in North Yorkshire is set to be redeveloped to provide improved facilities for the growing cricket, football, bowling and tennis organisations based at the site.
The existing single-storey timber pavilion will be replaced with a building constructed of traditional local materials, such as coursed limestone and natural slate, according to the drawings of Design 4 Architecture.
It will accommodate badminton and tennis courts in an indoor sports hall, external sports viewing areas and changing facilities.
New club rooms, a Scout/cadets area, bar/conference/function facilities, a café/community room, equipment stores, a kitchen and offices will also be provided to enhance the club's scope for income-generating social activities.
The existing open air pool will also be enclosed by a retractable glass roof to ensure its use for a longer season, while the car park and sports field will be expanded.
The potential impact of the development on the local natural environment has been thoroughly reviewed by North York Moors National Park.
