Food sales help drive pub groups' trading
Food sales helped both Greene King and Marston's to report an increase in revenues and pre-tax profits, according to the groups' latest trading results.
Marston's revealed in its figures for the year ending 2 October that food now accounts for 40 per cent of its sales - up five per cent on the previous 12 months. Meanwhile, Greene King's pre-tax profits for the 24 weeks to 17 October grew by more than 17 per cent to £73.1m.
