Fitness initiative for North East
People of Gateshead wanting to get active this summer are being rewarded for their hardwork with a new campaign called Summer Hearts.
Gateshead Council launched the scheme, running for 17 weeks from 4 June-30 September, which includes people receiving a 'Passport to Free Activities' from the Sport and Leisure team and earn free sessions throughout summer.
Anyone wishing to take part can collect a passport from any Gateshead Council leisure facility and at various events across Gateshead.
Each 30-minute activity is rewarded with a sticker for their passport, and every 10 stickers earns a free swim, gym or fitness class.
All passports returned will also be entered into a free prize draw to win a range of prizes including a mountain bike.
The scheme is part of Gateshead Primary Care Trust's Healthy Heart Week.
Cllr John McElroy, Cabinet member for Culture at Gateshead Council said: "Gateshead Council is recognising good health and whether people take part in a lot of activity already or just want to take the first steps to getting healthier and fitter, Summer Hearts will benefit everyone wanting to do so.”
