Chelmsford leisure centre revamp complete
Chelmsford Borough Council (CBC) has announced that work on a £3.5m programme of improvements at the Riverside Ice and Leisure Centre has been completed.
A renovation of the main entrance and the reception areas comprised the final phase of the scheme, which commenced in 2009 to upgrade the venue's facilities. Improvements at the Riverside Ice and Leisure Centre have already included an expansion of the gym and exercise studio and an extensive overhaul of the swimming pool area.
The ice rink has been modernised with a redesigned off-ice area, which has upgraded the catering, skate hire and changing provision. CBC cabinet member for leisure and culture Ray Ride said: "These works demonstrate the Council's continued commitment to improving services for our residents.
"We know these improvements have been appreciated because many more people are using the facilities."
