Carlton Bingo’s plans on hold
Carlton Bingo Group has announced that all expansion plans are on hold until the impact of the smoking ban in Scotland has been fully assessed.
The Inverness-based operator said that it will be at least a year before the effects of the ban on trade can be determined.
Managing director, Peter Perrins, said: “Without last year’s £6m new bingo halls in Inverness and Dunfermline, turnover would have been in decline for the first time since the management buyout in 1998.”
Turnover and gross profit both increased by 6 per cent in 2005 on 2004 to £24.4m and £3.5m respectively.
