Business in Sport and Leisure Announces 2005 Annual Conference date
Business in Sport and Leisure (BISL), a British Hospitality Association (BHA) partnership organisation, has announced the date for its forthcoming Annual Conference and Exhibition.
Under the title of New Flames for Old, this year’s conference will be held at the Royal Lancaster Hotel, London on Wednesday 23 November.
The Rt. Hon Richard Caborn MP, Minister for Sport, and the minister responsible for gambling, is expected to talk about tourism, land-use planning and liquor licensing;
Other keynote speakers on the day will be John Kelly, chair of Gala Group and a chief economist from conference sponsors Deutsche Bank will look at leisure, hospitality and the city.
Mark Harris, chief executive of the National Lottery Commission, will chair a session on the Bidding Consortia for the National Lottery, and Peter Dean CBE, the chair of the new Gambling Commission, has been invited to talk about the commission’s role, with the implementation of the 2005 Gambling Bill beginning in October.
A panel session on Doing the Business – Sports Stadia and Arenas – global best practice, will include speakers from Wembley National Stadium, The O2 and Arsenal’s new Emirates Stadium, and will address issues around their regeneration and the effect on their local areas.
The conference will end with a session on one of the most exciting events for hospitality and leisure to be held in London – The Olympic Games in 2012.
