British Military Fitness takes inactivity battle into the workplace

British Military Fitness (BMF) has announced plans to take its fitness classes from the park into workplaces across the country through a significant expansion of its corporate offering.

The outdoor fitness operator, which counts Travis Perkins, Wickes, Blacks and Heathrow among its clients, is planning to take its fitness sessions – led by military trained instructors – into more companies to get the UK’s workforce fit and healthy.

The new BMF corporate offering will see the firm creating bespoke packages based on the shift patterns of a company’s employees, the environment they work in and their budget.

There is growing momentum behind the importance of workplace wellness schemes and policymakers are currently looking at a number of options to help the UK workforce live healthier lifestyles. Public Health England last month launched its last One You initiative – thought to be the first public health campaign targeted specifically at the middle-aged – while ukactive called on a number of senior Conservatives to back policy changes that would offer tax incentives for workplace physical activity schemes.

“With the UK more health conscious than ever before, it has never been more vital for employers to get on board with supporting the health and wellbeing of their employees,” said Dean Adamson, corporate operations manager at British Military Fitness.

“Exercise is proven to have a host of benefits for both physical and mental wellbeing, and bringing fitness into the workplace is a great way to boost employees’ morale and encourage camaraderie and teamwork amongst staff, something that all employers should be looking to encourage.”
