The Chesterfield Mayfair in London was voted the best hotel by users of the TripAdvisor website, while the Nanford Guest House in Oxford was voted the worst.
London is home to four of the country’s worst hotels, including the Manor Court Hotel (2), the Whiteleaf Hotel (5), the Park Hotel (6) and the Eden Plaza Hotel (9).
However, two of the UK’s best hotels were also found in the capital. The aforementioned Chesterfield Mayfair came ninth in the world top 100 and fourth in the European top 10, while Hotel 41 and the Draycott Hotel also made the world top 100, placing 78th and 85th respectively.
The TripAdvisor Travellers’ Choice award winners were determined by a combination of the website’s popularity index and traveller ratings of specific property attributes. The website received 25 million visits a month and has more than 5 million registers members.
