A new partnership has been formed by Dutch research agency the Mulier Institute and UK-based The Leisure Database Company.
Modelled on data collection systems used in the UK – which have been licensed to government via Sport England for three years – the Mulier Institute has launched a Dutch fitness monitor.
The monitor, which will consist mainly of an annually-updated data bank, is supported by Fit!vak and IHRSA, with a start-up grant being provided by the Dutch Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sports.
The Mulier Institute will use the monitor to generate reliable data on fitness and fitness participation in the Netherlands. In the future, the database will also be used as a benchmarking tool, with the first Dutch Fitness Industry Report expected this year.
