Bolton college to open new gym
Bolton Community College has invested in a new on-campus health and fitness club as part of a £70m redevelopment of facilities at the college.
To be housed in a purpose-built building on the town's Dean Road, the 140sq m club will be kitted out by supplier Precor and is scheduled to open in time for the 2010-11 academic year in September.
The club will be available to students and staff as well as being used for sports teaching sessions.
Most of the 30 pieces of Precor equipment - including two Adaptive Motion Trainers - will be fitted with personal viewing screens. The Precor team has also been involved with the design and layout of the gym.
Other sports facilities at the college include a multi-use sports hall for football, badminton and basketball.
The new campus is part of Bolton Council's regeneration vision to create a £300m "Innovation Zone" at the heart of the Lancashire town. As well as the new-look Bolton Community College, Bolton University will be extended and a new cultural quarter will be created.
