Belper leisure centre plans submitted
A planning application has been submitted for the development of a new leisure complex in Belper, Derbyshire.
Last year, Amber Valley District Council (AVDC) put forward two proposals for the facility mix at the new venue as part of a public consultation. The majority of local residents opted for a complex comprising a 25m swimming pool with teaching pool.
Healey Associates are behind the design of the facility, which will also feature a 70-station fitness suite and a health suite with treatment rooms and a sauna. However, feedback received by the council now means that a sports hall - originally left out of the scheme - is included in the planning application.
AVDC's Liz Bowley, chair of the leisure centres' decision panel, said: "This is the next phase of the feasibility process, which will be followed by detailed work to determine potential sources of funding and the affordability of the proposed facility."
