A Lincolnshire beach is to showcase a new set of seaside architecture along a 10 mile stretch of coast between Mablethorpe and Chapel St Leonards following a competition to reimagine the structure of a beach hut.
Organised by East Lindsey District Council (ELDC), in partnership with artist Michael Trainor, the competition was called Bathing Beauties and launched in July this year.
More than 500 artists and architects competed from over 20 countries including Malaysia, Singapore, the US, China, Lebanon, Israel and the UK.
The four winners will now each be offered a commission of £20,000 to build their huts in 2007.
Once built, the huts will become the property of ELDC and will be available for daily public hire. Details: www.bathingbeauties.org.uk
