AS Roma put up for sale
Italian football club AS Roma has been officially put up for sale by its owners, the Sensi family, as part of an agreement to clear debts with bank and major creditor Unicredit.
The Sensi family owns the club through Compagnia Italpetroli and is now set to transfer a 67 per cent stake into a new company - Newco Roma - before being sold by the bank. According to the Guardian, Unicredit is currently owed around &euro:325m (£274.2m) and will possess a 49 per cent stake in the new company. The Sensi family will retain a 51 per cent stake.
