Sport Makers launched - targets 40,000 volunteers
Sport England has launched its Sport Makers campaign, a scheme aiming to mobilise thousands of volunteers to create sporting opportunities in their communities.
The Lottery-funded initiative will offer 40,000 people over the age of 16-years-old the opportunity to become Sport Makers. They will be invited to an orientation workshop delivered locally through a Community Sports Partnership and by a trainer.
They will then be tasked with being responsible for organising and supporting hundreds of thousands of new hours of grassroots sport across the country.
Sport Makers will be fully inclusive and the programme will run until September 2013.
