About us
Our mission is to create strong, lasting partnerships, built on a foundation of efficient and effective delivery, to encourage happier and healthier lifestyles.

At Parkwood Leisure, we don't just offer services; we offer a partnership that focuses on quality, innovation, transparency and environmental consciousness. Our success is not just measured in profits but in the positive impact we create together with our partners, clients and the communities in which we work.

As a family-owned business built on strong family values, we take pride in offering high-quality services that redefine industry standards. Our commitment to delivering an exceptional customer experience is the heartbeat of our approach, and it resonates through every interaction with us. Being family-owned is more than a tagline – it's a commitment to values that prioritise integrity, trust, and a personal touch. We aim to be big enough to make a tangible difference but small enough to care about every client, creating a sense of belonging and reliability.

Safe and welcoming environments are the foundation, but our interaction goes much further than facility operation, making a difference to the health and wellbeing of all of our communities.

We can only achieve this through our team's collective dedication and passion. At Parkwood Leisure, we foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning. Our team members are not just employees; they are partners in our collective success. A motivated and empowered team is the driving force behind our achievements.

Key products and services
Parkwood Leisure offers bespoke management services for a range of leisure facilities and health & wellbeing services. Our unique approach is backed by more than 25 years of experience, which has seen the organisation grow to managing more than 75 facilities across England and Wales, working with our sub-contractors Lex Leisure CIC and Legacy Leisure.

Parkwood also supports Lex Leisure CIC managing six golf courses under the Glendale Golf brand, four theatres, outdoor activity centres (including the Plas Menai National Outdoor Centre, in partnership with Legacy Leisure) and visitor attractions including indoor rainforest zoo Plantasia, and heritage sites Pavilion Gardens in Buxton and Rufford Abbey Country Park.

The organisation has extensive experience in design, build, operation and maintenance (DBOM) of new-build facilities. Working in partnership with sister company Parkwood Project Management, the company has led the consortia management of 14 new-build projects to date.
case study: Erewash Council – Making a positive impact
A collaborative partnership was formed between Erewash Borough Council and Parkwood Leisure; sub-contracting the day to day operation of the facilities to our Charity partner, Legacy Leisure. The contract period is for 10 years with an option of a five-year extension.

Engaging the local community
A collaborative effort by HOPE Christian Charity, Active Derbyshire and Legacy Leisure has been established to address the unique challenges faced by Asylum Seekers residing in two hotels in Long Eaton, Erewash.

The project provides access to physical activities, contributing to well-being and integration into the local community. This initiative was made possible through a successful bid to the Sport England Together Fund. The project's success has led to discussions about expanding the range of activities available to Asylum Seekers.

Pewit Pavilion has become the base for a collaboration with R.E.A.L Education to continue their educational delivery to young people in a safe and conducive environment. The objective was clear: to remove barriers to learning and create individualised pathways for every young person to fulfil their potential.

Since the inception of the program, there have been over 1300 student attendances, specifically tailored to the learning needs of marginalised young people.

Providing high quality experiences through investment
Parkwood Leisure identified £1.3 million of investment to improve facilities and activities for customers. Working in partnership with the Council funding a proportion of the capital improvements, we were able to deliver these projects with minimal impact on the customers and no closure of facilities.

As well as improvements to the centres, Sky Trail has been installed at West Park Leisure Centre, with a total investment of £365,000. This provides a greater link between the Park and Leisure Centre, creating more opportunities for children and families to get active.
case study: Supporting healthy communities in Bristol
A collaborative partnership was formed between Bristol City Council and Parkwood Leisure to oversee the brand new development of Hengrove Park Leisure Centre and community outreach activities.

Across Bristol, we have developed a broad range of vibrant sport and physical activity programmes for communities, some examples include:
