Eleiko releases 2025 Sustainability Report

09 Jun 2026
Eleiko barbells / Eleiko

Eleiko, a global leader in strength equipment, has released its 2025 Sustainability Report, documenting the company’s progress across environmental, social, and governance commitments.

The report reflects a year of meaningful milestones, including the launch of a new generation of barbells built from low-carbon steel, a record-breaking performance at the IWF World Championships, and continued investment in people, operations, and long-term sustainability.

“We are building a stronger world — one product, one team, one partnership at a time. This report reflects a year in which we made some of our most significant investments in the quality and sustainability of our products, the strength of our team, and the resilience of our operations.” — Erik Blomberg, CEO, Eleiko

2025 sustainability highlights

Redefining what a barbell can be
In 2025, Eleiko launched a new generation of barbells built from Eleiko Steel — a material composed of 97% recycled steel and produced using fossil-free energy, resulting in an 80% lower CO₂ footprint compared to the global average.

Developed in close collaboration with Swedish steel manufacturer Ovako, the new barbells deliver significantly improved durability and an extended product lifetime, without compromising precision or performance.

The launch was validated at the highest level of competition: at the IWF World Championships in Weightlifting in Førde, Norway, 40 world records were set using the new Eleiko barbells over a single 10-day event.

The IWF Weightlifting Competition Bar has since been awarded both the iF Design Award 2026 and the Red Dot Design Award 2026.

Stronger people and organization
Eleiko’s employee Net Promoter Score improved from 31 to 42 during 2025, reflecting continued investment in workplace culture and employee engagement.

The company also strengthened its organization through key appointments, including Daniel Åhman as head of product management, bringing experience from senior roles at Thule Group and Axis Communications, and Sabina Lindén as chief human resources officer in early 2026.

Climate action and supply chain progress
In 2025, Eleiko reached a milestone with more than 50% of cost of goods sold produced in Sweden. This reflects a continued commitment to shorter supply chains, stronger quality control, and reduced environmental impact.

For the first time, Eleiko completed a full greenhouse gas inventory across all Scope 3 categories, establishing a baseline to support the development of a transition plan aligned with the Paris Agreement from 2026 onward.

R&D investment is set to double over the next two years, supported by plans for an expanded Test Centre and Prototype Workshop. These investments will strengthen Eleiko’s ability to measure and reduce lifecycle emissions, reinforcing the belief that long-term sustainability is driven through product innovation and durability.

Governance and reporting maturity
In 2025, Eleiko brought quality and sustainability together under a unified function, with Simone Rishede serving as head of quality and sustainability.

The company also marked five years of participation in the UN Global Compact, embedding its ten principles covering human rights, labor, environmental protection, and anti-corruption into Eleiko’s operations.

The 2025 report has been prepared using a format inspired by the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS), which Eleiko has chosen to adopt voluntarily as part of its commitment to increased transparency and reporting maturity.

Looking ahead
In 2026, Eleiko will continue developing its ESRS reporting capabilities, expand measurement of value chain impacts, and build on recent investments in products and people.

The ambition remains unchanged — to make strength equipment that lasts, and to operate a business designed to last with it.

Eleiko’s 2025 Sustainability Report is available at www.eleiko.com/a-stronger-world. Through this report, Eleiko aims to inform and inspire customers, partners, and industry stakeholders to adopt more sustainable practices and contribute to a stronger future.
