The new attraction forms part of the government-funded Sheerness Revival project, which will see £20 million invested in regeneration works across the town.
The golf course has been built at a cost of around £400,000 and has been designed with local residents and young people from Rose Street Primary School and EKC Secondary School.
Features include well-known landmarks such as the Sheerness Clock Tower, the SS Richard Montgomery shipwreck, and the Minster Abbey gatehouse.
Serco Leisure and Swale Community Leisure already operate the nearby Sheppey Leisure Complex and Swallows Leisure Centre in Sittingbourne, on behalf of Swale Borough Council.
The Sheppey Leisure Complex is set to be refurbished and will see a new two-storey side extension, Café facilities, Adventure Play and Tag Active, an expanded, accessible GP facility on the ground floor, and improved office and wellbeing spaces with work expected to be completed by Summer 2026.
James Reynolds, Contract Manager for Serco Leisure in Kent, said: “We’ve already seen 1,000s of visitors to the new golf attraction, as people from across the region embrace this exciting addition to what’s on offer for families in Swale.”
Cllr Monique Bonney, chair of Swale Borough Council’s Economy and Property Committee, said: “This is going to be a great asset on the Island, helping boost tourism and giving our residents something fun to do with the family.
“The heritage theme helps remind us of Sheppey’s diverse and rich history, and the golf will help re-cement Beachfields as a leisure destination.
“We can’t wait to see everyone have a swing on this new course; it is quite difficult so why not challenge your friends and family to see who does best!
“Sheerness Revival is so much more than just the leisure element, we are also modernising the GP facilities, helping Sheppey Matters, improving the gym, extending the college and helping young entrepreneurs at Masters House with new workspaces.”
