Olympian Daryll Neita hosts athletics event at GLL venue
15 May 2024
The event, designed to promote physical activity and inspire the next generation of young athletes, was a resounding success, filled with excitement, learning, and fun.
The sports day featured a variety of athletics events, including sprint races, relay races, and throwing challenges. Throughout the day, Daryll engaged with the children, offering coaching tips, sharing her journey into athletics, and emphasising the importance of dedication, hard work, and a positive attitude.
Daryll is a proud supporter of the GLL Sports Foundation and has been an ambassador since 2020. Commenting on after the event she said, “I’m thrilled to have had the opportunity to have hosted this event, seeing young faces light up with enthusiasm for sport," said Neita.
"It's incredibly rewarding to give back to the community and inspire the next generation of athletes. I hope today has shown them that with passion and perseverance, they can achieve their dreams."
Teachers and parents praised the event for its organisation and the unique opportunity it provided for the children to interact with an elite athlete. "This was an unforgettable experience for the pupils," said one teacher.
"Daryll Neita's presence and encouragement have left a lasting impact on the children. It's wonderful to see them so motivated and excited about sports. We wish her the very best of luck in the Paris Olympics".
The day concluded with a Q&A session, where students eagerly asked Neita about her training routine, her favourite moments in her career, and her tips for aspiring athletes. Each participant received a t-shirt and a signed team GB water bottle as a keepsake to remember the special day.
Daryll Neita's sports day is part of her ongoing commitment to community engagement and youth development, with the launch of her Daryll Neita Athletics Community. As she continues to train for this summer’s Olympics in Paris, she remains dedicated to inspiring young people and promoting the benefits of living a healthy and active lifestyle.

“We made the decision to begin supporting the GLL Sport Foundation in 2015, and it is a pleasure to announce the renewal of our sponsorship with this incredible institution.
"Many bright and talented athletes throughout the United Kingdom are unable to chase their dreams of sporting glory due to lack of funding. We are passionate about helping GSF give equal opportunities to all young people and achieving their dreams of competing on the international stage.
"Our partnership enables both our brands to share the success of the UK’s most aspiring athletes who we are proud to have heard speak in such an inspirational way at our internal Sales Conferences and who have supported our marketing and brand development goals through representation and storytelling both in person and via social media”.
