PRESS RELEASE
Alliance Leisure assembles Scottish team to deliver Troon Leisure Club upgrade
22 Oct 2025
Troon Leisure Centre / Holmes Miller
Subject to planning permission, the project is scheduled to begin in November 2025, with an expected duration of around 12 months.
The development will be delivered through the UK Leisure Framework, managed by Denbighshire Leisure Ltd (DLL), and will utilise a locally based project team including Thomas Johnstone, Holmes Miller, Struer, and Wallace Whittle. This strong Scottish partnership underscores Alliance Leisure’s commitment to supporting the local supply chain and investing in regional expertise to deliver high-quality community leisure projects.
Jo Cameron, Delivery Manager at Alliance Leisure, says: “By working with trusted, Scotland-based partners, we’re ensuring the Troon Leisure Club upgrade is delivered with local insight and expertise. Together, we’ll create a sustainable, future-ready facility that supports health, wellbeing and social connection across the community.”
The redevelopment combines retained, refurbished and new-build elements to enhance the user experience and increase capacity. Plans include:
• A new fitness gym and multi-functional studio
• A new building frontage, entrance, reception and circulation area
• Refurbished wet changing area
• New dry changing area
• New baby change, accessible changing and toilet provision
• Alterations to external parking, access and landscaping
To maintain community access to health and fitness facilities during the works, a Community Fitness Hub will open at Muirhead Activity Centre in November. A selection of fitness classes and extended operating hours will be introduced to accommodate increased demand.
Councillor Alec Clark, Depute Leader and Policy Lead for Commercial/Operational Services at South Ayrshire Council, says: “I am pleased to confirm our investment in the upgrade of Troon Leisure Club, which will deliver modern, high-quality amenities for the local community. This development reflects our continued commitment to improving sport and leisure provision across South Ayrshire.”
