£6m leisure centre planned for Nottingham
Plans for a £6m leisure centre in Nottingham have been unveiled.
The new facility – which will be sited on the Djangoly City Academy site on Gregory Boulevard – will have a 25m swimming pool, steamroom and sauna.
The centre will replace the existing swimming baths on Noel Street, which will close in 2010.
David Trimble of Nottingham City Council said: “We want to replace an old centre and have funding in place to achieve this. I understand that some people will be sorry to see Noel Street Baths go, despite their condition, but believe that a better standard of service should be provided for our existing users and to encourage more people to take part in leisure activities.
“We need excellent modern facilities if we are to persuade youngsters away from computer games and other inactive pastimes, and to keep coming back.”
