£60,000 revamp for Leicester play facility
Work has started on a £60,000 overhaul of a playground in Eyres Monsell, Leicester, which has been designed by the local council and youth development officers.
The Big Lottery Fund is funding the project, which will create new facilities for children aged between 2-8 years old and will complement existing facilities for older children at Exchange Park. New tunnels, a climbing frame and slide, a sandpit, a four-person see saw and a pendulum net will be installed as part of the work, which is being led by Leicester City Council (LCC).
LCC play co-ordinator Anna Barradell said: "One of the things that children and parents said they would like to see was sand. So we have included a sandpit with a digger in the final design of the playground."
