£5.6m Rossendale leisure projects delayed

Rossendale Borough Council's (RBC) plans for a £5.6m upgrade of facilities at two leisure centres - Marl Pits, Rawtenstall, and Haslingden Sports Centre - have been delayed.
RBC portfolio holder for leisure Jason Gledhill said the council had worked with contractor Kier Northern to analyse costings and timescales before reporting back to members. Gledhill said: "We will shortly be reporting back to Members in order to gain approval to proceed. The Council's budget of £5.6m is secure and will fund the leisure improvements."
According to the Lancashire Telegraph, the start of construction work has been put back to allow for design alterations, after costs suggested the scheme could go over budget. Mouchel is also working alongside Kier Northern and RBC on the project.
