£100m regeneration scheme for Derby
Renewal and regeneration specialist Compendium Living has been appointed to lead a new £100m urban village development for Derby.
Derby City Council (DCC) and the East Midlands Development Agency are providing land for the Castleward Urban Village project, with the first phase due to commence next spring. Stage One will be centred on a pedestrian-friendly boulevard linking Derby railway station with the city centre. The whole scheme is expected to take 10 years to complete.
Around 2,500sq m (26,910sq ft) of commercial space and community facilities are included in plans for the first phase, along with a central park. DCC chief executive Adam Wilkinson said: "This will kick-start further investment into Derby and is the result of five years of hard work by the City Council and its partners."
The Homes and Communities Agency is also helping towards the scheme.
