Wilmslow club joins energie franchise
The Club Sportif Health Club in Wilmslow, Cheshire, is the latest facility to join the expanding énergie Fitness Clubs chain.
The 25,000sq ft club was sold to local businessman Kim Massey by leisure surveyors and agents, Christie + Co, to, after the former owners decided to return to the hotel industry.
The club has more than 1,500 members who will all be transferred from Club Sportif to énergie.
The site comprises a fully-equipped gym, a 20m pool, two exercise studios, a beauty salon, sports injury facility, a café/bar and a crèche.
A management consultant specialising in the financial services sector, Massey said he has been a health club member for years, but his real passion lies in customer service.
“I don’t think traditional health clubs deliver good customer service and so over the coming weeks, while the club is being re-branded, the staff will undergo a rigorous training programme to ensure that we provide every club member with the highest level of service,” he said.
Massey is currently conducting a survey to discover what members like about the club and how they feel it could be improved. Other plans include expanding the range of classes and introducing programme of social events.
“My aim is to return the club back to the glory days, when the phrase fitness club meant something more than just a place to run on a treadmill or ride a bike.
“I want to create a venue where members will know that they and their guests will always feel welcome and be inspired to come back again and again.”
