Visitors flock to new sports village
In its first 100 days since opening, the new £27m The Peak sports village in Stirling has welcomed more than 160,000 visitors - and consequently had to make operational changes to cope with the volume of people using the centre.
Active Stirling's head of business development, Ian Ferguson, said: "We have made some operational changes that we hope have improved people's experience of The Peak.
"Our most immediate challenge was managing the volume of users and helping people get used to our Fast Track kiosks for example, which are designed as a self service method of entry for members rather than queuing up at reception.
"The kiosks are the first of their kind in Scotland and we have been adapting and improving the software as the weeks has gone by. Now 50 per cent of our members use the Fast Track entry system, a figure that has steadily grown as people have got used to the technology and become more confident in its use."
The centre has also expanded its timetable of classes from 70 to more than 100 per week and seen membership sales exceed expectations.
