Travellers to France must receive a better welcome, says tourism chiefs

The welcome that travellers find on arriving in France “is essential to the development of tourism in France and must be improved”, said the President of tourism group Medef and the president of Accor, Jean-MarcEspalioux.
Speaking after the opening of the Top Resa tourism conference at Deauville, Espalioux said he particularly singled out the welcome at French airports, that he described as “absolutely awful”.
Espalioux said that travellers arriving on an international flight at Paris-Roisy airport early in the morning are greeted by just one policeman checking every passenger disembarking from a Boeing-747. He recommends introducing Welcome Agents, identified by armbands, in the country’s stations and airports to provide a support team to greet passengers, answer queries and generally smooth the arrival process.
