Trago to build larger Merthyr store
Trago Mills, the discount shopping and family leisure company, has reportedly lodged a new planning application to extend the shopping area at its proposed new outlet in Merthyr Tydfil, South Wales.
According to the South Wales Echo, the company is looking to increase the planned retail area from 150,000sq ft (13,935sq m) to 200,000sq ft (18,581sq m) to bring it in line with two Trago Mills outlets in south-west England. Plans for the 120-acre (49-hectare) former Heolgerrig brick works and mining deposition site at Swansea Road also features a leisure park, which will include a boating lake, a karting track and indoor and outdoor play areas.
The company has already invested £12m to prepare the site for the development, and group managing director, Malcolm Sandbach, told the newspaper: "We hope to make a start around Easter time."
