Fit tech – 10 of the best Black Friday deals

Black Friday, which falls on 25 November this year, will be one of the busiest retail days of 2022
Fit tech companies are offering up to US$500 or £500 on products as part of Black Friday sales
This year, 140m Americans will buy around US$51bn worth of goods during pre-holiday sales
Brits plan to spend an estimated £3.95bn during this 'cyber week' period to Cyber Monday (28 November)

Black Friday, which falls on 25 November, will be one of the busiest retail days of 2022, marking the start of this year’s Christmas shopping season. Now extending into ‘cyber week’ and finishing on Cyber Monday, it's a time when shops and companies offer significant discounts on their products.

According to research by global price comparison website Finder, 140m Americans will buy around US$51bn worth of goods throughout pre-holiday sales, while in the UK, Brits plan to spend an estimated £3.95bn.

For those seeking fit tech deals ahead of the Christmas rush, we’ve searched the market to highlight some of the best Black Friday bargains currently available.

Hydrow

Consumers can save up to £400 or US$500 on Hydrow rowers and gain free accessories (+£125 value) in a Black Friday deal that ends on Monday 28 November. The standard rower model is priced at £1,595 instead of £1,995 (US$1,995, US$2,495).

The lighter Hydrow Wave, which launched earlier this year, is £1,270 down from £1,395 (US$200 off in the US at US$1,495). Memberships bring access to around 4,000 live and on-demand workouts led by professional athletes such as Olympian Aquil Abdullah.

Ergatta

Ergatta just launched Vortex, which allows members to race based on effort in a new gamified, competition experience.

To pick up a rower with a Black Friday discount, US residents can use the code BF500 on Ergatta’s website to get US$350 off the price plus free shipping (which the company says brings the discount up to US$500).

As of 22 November 2022, US shoppers can also purchase Ergatta rowers at BestBuy, where up to US$500 can be saved through the site’s Black Friday deals. (UK consumers can purchase Ergatta rowers from Water Rower, but there aren’t currently any Black Friday deals available on the site.)

Peloton

After a difficult year that included significant losses, restructuring and the resignations of two co-founders, the company reduced manufacturing costs by outsourcing to Taiwan-based Rexon.

As it tries to move ahead in a challenging economic climate and increase memberships, it is offering consumers up to £500 or US$600 off Bike, Bike+ and tread packages through the One Peloton website.

Oura

Oura recently linked up with athlete’s network Strava as it had been the most common request from subscribers. Previously Oura was integrated with just Apple HealthKit and Google Fit. Those looking to join might be tempted by the €50 or US$50 discount being offered until Monday 28 November through the Oura website.

Therabody

Dr Jason Wersland, founder and chief wellness officer of Therabody, uses the Theragun to treat tension headaches and relieve shoulder pain. Therabody is offering buyers up to US$150, €100 or £100 off the Theragun range, from mini to pro. It is also providing savings on its website – up to €300 or US$300 – on RecoveryAir products, as well as discounts on PowerDot muscle stimulators and the Wave series of vibrating rollers.

Hyperice

Hyperice is offering US$100 or £100 off its Hypervolt range, but Black Friday discounts are applicable to many more items, including the Normatec range, Venom Go (which is featured in October’s HCM magazine) and the Core premium package.

Hyperice acquired Core last year and made the founder, Sarah McDevitt, the head of mind technologies at Hyperice, as the company moves deeper into the mental health space.

Whoop

Whoop is offering 20 per cent off memberships until Monday 28 November. Once for athletes, CEO Will Ahmed says it’s now suitable for anyone who is looking to improve their overall wellbeing and daily performance.

The 24/7 tracker that monitors recovery, sleep, training and health, recently integrated Pliability to offer personalised recovery and mobility routines to users.

Tonal

Tonal, which is backed by Amazon and athletes such as Serena William and Mike Tyson, restructured back in July. It is now taking US$250 off its all-in-one strength training equipment, which offers HIIT, barre, 245 core movements and family workouts, for Black Friday. This equates to a price drop from US$3,495 to US$3,245 – products cannot be shipped or installed outside of the US.

Clmbr

Clmbr, which provides intensive low-impact cardio, is offering up to US$200 off its new Clmbr 02 model, bringing the sale price down from US$2,795.00 to US $2,595.00. These newly-launched machines carry the AI-driven Clmbr Vision which connects users to live coaching and feedback – read more in issue 9 of HCM mag. Forme

Until Monday 28 November, Forme is offering US$500 off Studio and a free month of live one-to-one training, which it values at US$399. The discount sees the price drop from US$2,495 to US$1,995 for the immersive smart home gym studio, which provides custom, on-demand workouts via a 4K touch display. The package also includes a premium yoga mat and heart rate monitor.

Forme uses artificial intelligence to provide the correct resistance for users, who, according to founder Trent Ward, are mostly busy 35-55 years old who need to fit in exercise around jobs and family life.

Black Friday, which falls on 25 November, will be one of the busiest retail days of 2022, marking the start of this year’s Christmas shopping season. Now extending into ‘cyber week’ and finishing on Cyber Monday, it's a time when shops and companies offer significant discounts on their products.
