Taj Hotels opens Falaknuma Palace
India-based Taj Hotels, a subsidiary of the Indian Tata Group, has reopened Falaknuma Palace in Hyderabad, India, as a luxury spa hotel.
Originally built in 1884, the former royal residence is spread across 32 acres of gardens and has undergone a 10-year restoration.
The palace offers 60 luxurious rooms, a 10,000sq ft (930sq m) Royal Jiva-branded spa, two restaurants and an outdoor pool.
The initial design of the Spa was completed by Wimberly Allison Tong & Goo (WATG). Once the initial designs had been completed the Taj Spa team - Bina and Samir Patel - orchestrated the new designs and lay outs.
There are two single massage suites, a double massage suite, two suites dedicated to beauty treatments, a relaxation room, and separate changing areas for men and women.
The Jiva Spa wet area encompasses a steam room, chill showers and regular showers.
Treatments are based on a traditional Indian approach and include aromatherapy. The unique signature treatment at Falaknuma is the 150-minute Nawab-e-Khaas incorporating a foot wash, an exfoliating body scrub, a light facial scrub and a gentle restorative massage.
The Jiva Spa doesn't use any branded products and all oils used in treatments are hand-blended for Jiva Spas.
