Star Trac to close California factory
Star Trac, the fitness equipment supplier based in California, US, has announced that its Murrieta Strength Manufacture Plant is scheduled to close at the end of May.
Last month, the company announced that the closure would be effective from 31 May, with operations at Irvine also to be streamlined. The move will result in around 75 job losses. Star Trac has confirmed that its Impact Strength Line will be transferred to the 800,000sq ft (74,322sq m) Land America Plant in Xiamen, China, which is owned by Michael Bruno.
Bruno acquired Star Trac last July and unveiled pans for a reorganisation of the company in a bid to drive forward continued growth, which involved streamlining proposals. In a statement, a Star Trac spokesperson said: "Corporate operations are now are now consolidated at the Myford facility.
"This is part Star Trac's streamlining process to develop a more efficient manufacture through distribution operations to serve its global customer base."
