Six Senses Spa at Ma’in Hot Springs
A famous Middle Eastern hot springs site is to be redeveloped by the Six Senses group and turned into an Evason-branded spa property.
The Ma’in Hot Springs in Jordan are around a one-hour drive west of the capital Amman and are located 866ft (264m) below sea level. They have been reputed for their healing powers for centuries – legend has it that Herod the Great bathed in the waters.
The building Six Senses is redeveloping was originally built in the 1980s and will undergo a US$12m (7.69m euro, £6m) makeover to convert it into a property called Evason Ma’in.
This will include a free-standing Six Senses Spa complex that will focus on the mineral-rich waters of the springs and offer healing mineral and Dead Sea therapies including salt scrubs and mud wraps.
Scheduled to reopen in late 2008, Evason Ma’in will also include 94 deluxe guestrooms as well as several suites featuring spa facilities.
