East Africa-based hospitality group Serena Hotels has established a welfare programme for all its employees.
The Serena Employee Wellness Programme aims to reduce the incidence of accident and illness in the workplace via targeted awareness campaigns, which promote healthy lifestyles. The campaigns will include advice on drug and alcohol abuse and HIV/AIDS awareness.
Mahmud Jan Mohamed, Managing Director of Serena Hotels said: “At Serena, we believe in taking a holistic approach to our corporate social responsibilities. Over the past decade, we have evolved a policy, which we believe addresses this crucial corporate characteristic.”
Serena recently took over operations at the Hotel InterContinental Kigali in Rwanda and the Hotel Kivu Sun, located on the shores of Lake Kivu, following a long-term lease agreement with the Government of Rwanda.
