Revised plans for Boston leisure centre revamp
Boston Borough Council (BBC) has revealed that the Geoff Moulder Leisure Complex is to undergo a £284,000 revamp - not a £2m overhaul as originally planned.
Government funding cuts has forced the local authority to scale down its proposals for the venue, which will benefit from work on changing areas and gym equipment. Meanwhile, BBC has also agreed to enter into a 99-year lease for land and buildings at the Peter Paine Sports Centre with Boston College.
A formal agreement has been secured for the Princess Royal Sports Arena, which will see the council reduce its subsidy to Boston Sports Initiative to nil by 2013-14. Richard Dungworth, council portfolio holder for regeneration, planning, sport and cultural services, said: "The lease negotiated with Boston College is a good deal for the ratepayers of Boston and safeguards the future of sports provision at the Peter Paine."
