REPs’ unveils vision statement and aims
As the largest qualification-based fitness organisation in the world, the Register of Exercise Professionals (REPs) has agreed a vision statement with its board of governors.
The new vision statement, which aims to show the way forward for the Register, is now: “To ensure that all exercise professionals are suitably knowledgeable and qualified to safeguard and to promote the health and interests of the people who use their services.”
In order to meet these goals, clear actions need to be implemented. The REPs is now working hard to:
– Raise the standards, qualifications and skills of exercise professionals throughout the UK
– Embrace all disciplines including gym instruction, group exercise, circuits, keep fit, personal training, yoga, pilates, aqua, advanced instruction techniques, working with special population groups, exercise referral patients and people involved in physical activity programmes
– Establish that registration is a pre-requisite for working in these areas
– Monitor the performance of all exercise professionals to ensure that all members of the Register of Exercise Professionals have the skills, knowledge, experience and competencies to fulfil their role including a commitment to personal achievement through continued professional development
– Hold members of the Register of Exercise Professionals work to a strict Code of Ethical Practice
– Ensure that all members of the Register are adequately insured
– Represent and serve the professional interests and status of our members.
