RCT unveils new heritage trail
Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough Council has launched a new online heritage trail designed to enable local residents to learn more about local history.
A website - developed with the support of the Heritage Lottery Fund - will provide users with a number of walks and driving trails that will outline the area's most significant heritage locations and 30 Blue Plaque sites. Information is also available in brochure format at local libraries, museums and tourism information points as part of the scheme, which aims to mark the culmination of efforts to place the plaques.
Council cabinet member for tourism and recreation Robert Bevan said: "There have been 30 Blue Plaques introduced county borough-wide, commemorating famous people, places and events and these trails link the plaques and other interesting places. "There is a wealth of heritage locally and many people will be fascinated and surprised to find out more about our incredible past which has created such a vibrant county borough today."
