Quintain announces huge Wembley redevelopment
Property developer, Quintain Estates, which owns land surrounding but not including the new Wembley stadium, has submitted a planning application to Brent Council.
As well as 3,700 new homes, the potential regeneration will include a pedestrianised, tree-lined boulevard to be as wide as Regent Street and contain various leisure facilities, a cinema, cafes, shops and a hotel plus a public square as large as Leicester Square to be called Arena Square.
Covering 42 acres, the planning application follows six months of extensive local community consultation with over 3,400 people.
The plans have been designed by Richard Rogers Partnership and are aimed at transforming Wembley, providing an appropriate setting for the stadium and delivering thousands of new jobs with improved local facilities and major new areas of open space.
Launching the regeneration plans, director of Quintain Estates, Nick Shattock, said: “We will transform Wembley. Not only will there be a great setting for the National Stadium but we will also completely change perceptions of the area for local residents, with a totally new experience for millions of visitors to the National Stadium and Wembley Arena.”
