The Quinn Group has announced its redevelopment plans for The Belfry hotel in Wishaw, West Midlands.
A new building behind the existing 500-bedroom Belfry will feature a leisure complex – to include a swimming pool, gym, spa and treatment facilities – as well as facilities for business, sporting and leisure events.
The site’s existing golf facilities will include new PGA facilities.
The hotel’s general manager, Nigel Gray, said: “These plans to create the only five-star hotel in the Midlands offer an opportunity to develop a new hotel that provides state-of-the-art facilities, while retaining the charm our customers associate with the ivy-clad façade of the hotel.”
A series of public consultations will be held next month, before a planning application is submitted later this year by Reardonsmith Architects.
Quinn acquired the hotel from De Vere – now owned by the Alternative Hotel Group – for £186m in 2005.
