Pune and Kochi handed IPL franchises
Two more teams are set to join the Indian Premier League (IPL) cricket tournament from 2011 after the addition of the Pune and Kochi franchises was confirmed.
The Sahara Adventure Sports Group's was successful in its bid for the Pune franchise at US$370m (£247m), while a US$333m (£222.2m) bid from Rendezvous Sports World secured the Kochi franchise. IPL chair and commissioner Lalit Modi confirmed the news on 21 March, which will see the tournament expand from eight to 10 teams from next season.
