Members of Freedom Leisure have helped raise £1,000 for Diabetes UK, the UK’s leading charity devoted to the care and treatment of people with diabetes.
The money was raised by Freedom Leisure’s ‘Pound for a lb’ charity fundraiser which was launched in October and saw exercisers donate £1 for every pound of fat they shed.
Jeff Hart, Freedom Leisure’s Managing Director, said: “One of the reasons for the increase in type two diabetes in recent years is the rise in the number of people who are overweight.
“By making long term changes to your lifestyle, such as incorporating regular exercise and a fitness programme, you can reduce the risk of developing type two diabetes.”

Office parliamentary physical activity challenge, which takes place throughout June and is
hosted by ukactive and Technogym.
