Park Hotel Kenmare to open destination spa
The Park Hotel Kenmare, in County Kerry, Ireland, is to open a new destination spa in October 2003.
Sámas, a EUR4.5m spa, funded entirely by the hotel, has been designed by Opperman Associates of Dublin, in association with E'Spa.
The spa will be housed in a new building attached to the hotel, on a wooded knoll overlooking Kenmare Bay.
On two levels, one will be underground to create an entirely 'controlled environment' while the upstairs will be completely glass-walled to overlook the woods and the water.
It will offer six treatment rooms, using E'Spa products; a 25sq m vitality pool; 50sq m tai-chi pavilion; a beauty, manicure and pedicure room and 75sq m fitness suite.
There will be separate experiences for men and women; including a rock sauna and aroma hammam for men and laconium and aroma steamroom for women, as well as separate ice fountains and tropical mist showers.
Two deluxe day suites will boast double treatment and relaxation space and private gardens with outdoor spa pools.
John Brennan, general manager of the Park Hotel Kenmare, said: 'The spa will be ultramodern, so in contrast to the 100-year-old Victorian hotel, but the philosophy will be the same - an absolute retreat for the wellbeing and comfort of our guests.
'The spa will be open to guests and others on a booking-only basis. We will not be offering membership.' Details: www.parkkenmare.com
