Oldham Athletic issues agent scam warning
Oldham Athletic Football Club (OAFC) has issued a warning to parents and budding footballers regarding "bogus agents" offering trials with the club in exchange for cash.
The npower League One club said that it has been made aware of foreign-based "agents" engaged in the practice, including one case of a US-based person who parted with US$6,000 (£3,861) for a trial that didn't exist. OAFC chief executive Alan Hardy said: "Nobody should ever part with money as we don't charge footballers to have trials with us."
