Hong Kong-based theme park Ocean Park is reportedly considering opening another theme park on mainland China in 2010.
According to China Hospitality News, despite the opening of Hong Kong Disneyland in September 2005, Ocean Park is on track to report a 7 per cent increase in visitor numbers this year – to 4.3 million people.
This has prompted a number of mainland Chinese cities to contact the park with view to launching a new Ocean Park site.
However, in June this year, Ocean Park secured financing for its HK$5.5bn (£384m, US$708m, 562m euro) redevelopment project of its existing Hong Kong park. Until the expansion project is completed in 2010, any plans to open another property will be put on hold.
The park will remain open throughout redevelopment. Details: www.oceanpark.com.hk
