New mental health arts courses for Blaby
Blaby District Council (BDC) has launched a new creative arts programme designed for adults who experience mental health problems.
Arts for Health aims to boost the quality of life for people older than 18 years old who are currently experiencing depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder or other related issues. The weekly sessions will be free for local residents to attend, with experienced artists teaching a range of creative skills - such as print work, music skills and creative writing.
BDC arts and heritage development officer Hema Mistry said: "Research shows that actively engaging in the arts can improve people's confidence, general wellbeing and promote positive health messages."
