New-look Twickenham gardens unveiled
Richmond Council has announced that work on a scheme to upgrade Kneller Gardens in Twickenham, South London, has been completed.
A knee rail, old bar gate and concrete posts have been removed from the main entrance in a bid to open up the front of the park, while paths have been resurfaced and drainage issues resolved. Work has also included the creation of a new natural play area as part of the Playbuilder initiative and a redesign of the sports pavilion, while a café run by Richmond Youth Partnership has opened.
Virginia Morris, the council's strategic cabinet member for environment and planning, said: "The updated entrance is the final project in a series of improvements which has modernised the park and I hope people will enjoy and make use of it from now on. "The council has said one of its priorities is to leave the borough in a better state than we found it; that means improving parks like Kneller Gardens."
