New games area for Cardiff facility
Three new outdoor multi-use games areas have been launched as part of a wider programme of work to improve the Maindy Centre in Cathays, Cardiff.
Former unused tennis courts have been refurbished to provide new facilities for five-a-side football and basketball; two of which can be hired out to groups. Other improvements carried out at the Maindy Centre have included a expanded gym, a new BMX track and the creation of an interactive fitness studio.
Cardiff Council contributed funding as part of its Neighbourhood Regeneration Schemes Initiative, which supports environmental improvements across the city. Judith Woodman, the council's executive member for communities, housing and social justice, said: "This is a great project to encourage sport and community activities at the Maindy Centre, bringing a previously under-used space into a new, exciting facility."
