New conference centre and health club to open in Somerset
A members-only health club is part of a £6m scheme currently under development in Bridgewater, Somerset.
Due to open in November, the Exchange@Express Park has been developed by Dutch firm Express Park and comprises conference facilities and a health club, crèche, café, hair and beauty area and conference facilities.
The 13,500sq ft health club aims to attract 1,500 members with its mix of a Precor-equipped gym and two studios, one of which will be dedicated to group cycling. Offering 32 bikes, the studio will feature a 4x3m screen and a sound and light system to offer the latest in virtual group cycling.
Saunas, steamrooms and personal lounge areas will be available in the changing areas.
Formerly of Fitness Exchange, Andy Congdon is general manager of the facility. "This is a wonderful opportunity to provide a conference venue which is strategically located for the South West region, satisfying a clear demand that has been acknowledged for many years," he said.
“The health club is set to be the best in the area providing both private and corporate fitness solutions to the community.”
“Our nearest competitor in terms of quality is Esporta in Taunton, which is 10 miles away.”
Congdon expects corporate health club members to form 65 per cent of membership, which varies in price from £35 to £42 a month.
The Express Park development also incorporates a Travel Inn hotel and Brewsters family restaurant as well as office space and industrial units.
