New Nottingham adventure play area unveiled
A new adventure playground - designed for young people aged between five and 13 years old - has been unveiled in Bestwood, Nottingham.
At the centre of the £1.3m facility is a 13m (3.3ft) pyramid tower, bridge and tunnel slides, while a two-seated cable slide and wild tangle climbing frame have also been installed. Designed to allow young people to interact with nature, the new flagship play area is also set to boast a vegetable growing area in the near future.
A total of £800,000 was invested in the new facility as part of the wider £2.5m grant allocation handed to Nottingham City Council (NCC) through the government's Play Pathfinder initiative. Additional investment from the Department for Children, Schools and Families came via the Aiming High for Disabled Children programme, as well as from Waste Recycling Environmental (WREN).
NCC portfolio holder for children and families David Mellen said: "Play is vital for the healthy development of children of all ages and the new adventure playground provides plenty of opportunities for children and young people of all ages and abilities."
